7 days of Weathervanes

An exercise in creativity.

In this project I had to made a weathervane design every day for 7 days. The following is what I created over the 7 days.

This was the first and probably one of the more mild ones. I don't have any strong opinions on it to put it plainly. It's based on the "Phantom of the Opera" but it's not much deeper than that.

This was a very sensible design. Easy to make physically (if it was to happen) and a very clean look to it. For me personally, this is the most forgettable one.

Even though I'm not a fan of this design, I had to do a bird diving graphic. It's just one of those things I like to do when working with vector images and I keep coming back to it consistantly. Maybe not the best for a weathervane.

This is probably my favourite one, even though it would need to be reworked for functionality. I loved having to design the fin while also keeping it one piece. Overall the stylisation is something I think shines about this design the most.

I'll preface this one with a statement. "I don't hate any weathervane, except THAT scarecrow!". I didn't like designing this one at all but pushed through since it was a unfamilar design for me. If I was to do it again I would change the perspective and make the scarecrow wider. I just think it's not my best work.

This was a return to form for me after the scarecrow incident. Just a mask depicted as melting. I used a lot of geometric shapes for this one since it's a favourite of mine when working with vectors and silhouettes.

I was very sick of weathervanes by this point so I already knew what I was going to design. A very simple "EXIT" and "GO!" clearly showing my feelings towards the work at this point.

There isn't much for me to put here. I would LOVE to start putting academic sources EVERYWHERE for these weathervanes, but the truth is that... It's just some drawings for a personal challenge so there isn't much of anything to cite (as it is my own work).
