Documenting a Day
Focusing on one aspect.
Undertaking this task meant picking a focus in my day to document and observe. I chose to document something I'd been planning for a while, my diet prepping. For this I recorded some notes and resources I had used for planning my diet. I will now compare what I read to how I’ve experienced the effects of the diet. As of writing It’s been 29 days, my goal is to get to next month. The following recounts my diet planning.
I had to go through the types of diets to see what I was going to undertake for the month. I was only going to get an overview so I had reviewed this article, to get a rough Idea of what was available to me. From there I decided to research further a low-carb diet.
This was because of previous positive testimonies heard in passing about a similar diet, keto. An Issue of this diet is the unsustainable lifestyle it requires. High fat, no carbs and the end goal is to reach a state of ketosis
However, most people struggle with a restrictive diet of little variety. Only so many food have high fat and vis versa for low carb. Which led me to the less extreme low carb diet which is related but its effect differs. The main goal of a low carb diet being to reduce hunger and portion sizes. The other option I had debated and researched during the day was a Mediterranean diet. I didn’t research it very much. Since it did not offer much variety in some areas as I’d hoped.
After looking into the diets I had my goal set. 10g maximum for carbs per meal, for the whole month.
The results of this researched diet 29 days later go as this. I lost 7kg, which isn’t a lot but it’s plenty for the sake of “how does my body handle this?”. I noticed that my appetite had significantly reduced and my portion sizes too. After I get through the month I’ll try to retain my portion sizes even after the diet. Overall, my body reacted pretty well to the diet. The first couple days I lost about 1kg a day until it just stopped. Afterwards I had been losing weight in smaller but steady amounts. Which is probably the portion sizes. While the month isn’t quite over, I have seen just about the whole diet in effect.
The sidebar contains some random titbits about this site and my thoughts in general.
